The town and surrounding area, whilst set in glorious countryside,has relaxation at its heart. Take the riverside parks and play areas. The River Camel meanders through the town providing a haven for wildlife and birds and lush open riverbanks.Venture on to the playing fields which adorn the river banks and a host of sporting opportunities open up. How about a stirring game of tennis - floodlit or not, the choice is yours! Ladies and Gents in white may attract your attention at the Bowling Club or you may wish to watch village cricketers in action on the playing field - what better way to sample Wadebridge life! If you're an angler there's lake, sea, rock, and river fishing all in or around the town. When Betjeman wrote about the pleasures of seaside golf it was this area he was writing about.Within an easy drive of the town there are the renowned seaside links of Trevose and St Enodoc and the rolling inland greens of St Kew, Roserrow and Lanhydrock.
Maybe it's grand Country Houses and Gardens for you? Just a few miles from Wadebridge at Washaway is the Georgian splendour of Pencarrow House. Relaxing in and around Wadebridge needn't mean a journey too far. Just above the town at Bodieve there is an excellent leisure centre with an indoor heated pool,weights and excercise rooms, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. Just opposite the Leisure centre is the rapidly developing Wadebridge Football Club which offers spectators weekly matches in season and an active social club.
